The ‘Safer School’ initiative is a security/safety initiative supported by Shropshire Council and West Mercia Police. In 2005, under the leadership of Mrs Burke, Meole Brace School became an accredited ‘Safer School’ and thirteen years later, the school is continuing the Safer School process. Recently, I attended a Safer School Group meeting at the school involving staff, governors, a parent and most importantly, students. The Police normally attend these meetings but sent their apologises on this occasion. This Group reviewed security/safety, considered any school issues and planned for the future. The student contribution to the meeting was particularly excellent, giving both suggestions and solutions. It was a really productive and positive meeting and a good reflection of the school’s hard work in maintaining the Safer School accreditation. Congratulations!!
